Cagrilintide

Description

Cagrilintide is a long-acting synthetic analogue of human amylin (islet amyloid polypeptide), structurally modified with amino acid substitutions and a fatty acid-albumin binding moiety to extend its half-life relative to native amylin. As a dual amylin and calcitonin receptor agonist (AgRP), cagrilintide has become a significant subject of preclinical metabolic signalling research, often studied alongside GLP-1 receptor agonists in combination research models.

Preclinical research has examined cagrilintide’s agonist activity at amylin receptor complexes (AMY1-3) and calcitonin receptors, investigating its role in gastric emptying regulation, energy homeostasis pathways, and appetite-regulating hypothalamic pathway signalling in rodent and non-human primate models.
