Description

GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine copper complex) is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide found in human plasma, saliva, and urine, where it plays important roles in wound healing, tissue remodelling, and antioxidant defence. As one of the most researched copper peptides available, GHK-Cu has been studied extensively in preclinical dermatology, wound biology, and anti-aging research, with a broad body of literature examining its diverse biological activities.

Preclinical research into GHK-Cu has investigated its ability to stimulate collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycan synthesis in fibroblast models; its activation of metalloproteinase systems involved in extracellular matrix remodelling; its antioxidant properties through copper chelation and free radical scavenging; and its anti-inflammatory effects via modulation of NF-κB signalling and cytokine expression. Studies have also explored its role in wound contraction, angiogenesis promotion, and nerve tissue repair in animal models.
