Description

AHK-Cu (Alanine-Histidine-Lysine-Copper) is a synthetic tripeptide-copper complex closely related structurally to GHK-Cu, distinguished by its alanine-histidine-lysine backbone coordinated to a divalent copper (Cu²⁺) ion. As a member of the copper-binding tripeptide family, AHK-Cu has drawn scientific interest as a related but structurally distinct compound within copper-peptide biology research.

Preclinical research has investigated AHK-Cu’s interactions with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signalling pathways and its influence on gene expression profiles associated with follicular and dermal tissue models. Published studies in peptide dermatology and regenerative biology have explored copper-tripeptide activation of angiogenic and extracellular matrix remodelling pathways, building on the broader body of literature surrounding copper-peptide complexes. Research models have also examined AHK-Cu’s antioxidant behaviour attributable to its copper-chelation chemistry.

AHK-Cu has a molecular weight of approximately 340.86 Da and the molecular formula C11H20CuN6O4.
