Kisspeptin-10 (Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-Phe-Gly-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2) is the biologically active C-terminal decapeptide fragment of the parent kisspeptin protein encoded by the KISS1 gene, originally identified as a metastasis-suppressor gene before its critical role in reproductive neuroendocrinology was characterised. As the minimal active fragment of the full-length peptide, Kisspeptin-10 retains full agonist activity at its target receptor while offering a more tractable structure for laboratory research applications.

Preclinical research has extensively investigated Kisspeptin-10’s agonist activity at KISS1R (formerly GPR54), a G-protein-coupled receptor densely expressed in hypothalamic GnRH neurons. Published studies have examined the peptide’s role in stimulating gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) pulsatility, its involvement in the onset of puberty in animal models, and its interactions with the broader hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal signalling cascade.
