Description

Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue developed from the naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin, engineered with an additional Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide extension to confer resistance to enzymatic degradation. Originally developed by Russian researchers at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Selank belongs to a class of synthetic peptide bioregulators studied for their central nervous system activity.

Preclinical research has examined Selank’s interactions with GABAergic and monoaminergic (serotonergic and dopaminergic) signalling pathways in rodent models, along with its influence on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression. Published studies in peptide neuropharmacology have investigated Selank’s effects on enzymatic activity related to enkephalin degradation, and research models have explored its potential relevance to anxiolytic and nootropic research paradigms.
